Joseph and Anna raised my great grandmother, Florence Maud Moore when her mother, Emily died. Emily was Jo’s sister. I am Joseph Moore Bishop’s granddaughter. I hadn’t seen Dr (Uncle) Joe Bascom before. Thanks for posting the photo.

Hi Jen,

I’m a descendant of Robert Williams and Elizabeth Hamilton-Williams through their son William Williams who was born in Ireland before they came to what is now Ormstown, Quebec. Robert purchased the farm from a tailor in Montreal in 1823 I believe. I’d love to share more as I’m researching my ancestry too! Your blog’s a great idea!!

Thomas Oakley (brother of your great-great grandmother Alice Coulman) is my great-great grandfather. It is great to find family on this never ending pursuit of family heritage.

I am a descendant of the Oakley’s, now living in Illinois but from Ontario originally. Alice Coulman’s brother, Thomas, is my great-great grandfather.

Hi Jen,

I read with interest your comments regarding the log house which was originally located in Holt. In March of 1906, my grandmother, Maude Alice Fletcher, was also born in the cabin. I have this information from my grandmother herself.

I understand that the Museum uses it for other purposes now, but when I viewed the interior it was still set up as a home, complete with a cradle in one corner. It was a tremendous gift to step into the place where my gram drew her first breath.
